Steve Viscounte has an extensive history in teaching and education administration that spans nearly 40 years. Beginning in 1986, he spent over half his career at Marlington, serving as the dean of students and assistant principal of the high school, as well as the principal of the middle school and Washington and Lexington Elementary Schools before becoming the superintendent of United Local Schools in 2012. Most recently, he has acted as a safety and security consultant with North Canton City Schools. It has been an honor for Steve to work at Marlington Local Schools for the majority of his career as a coach, teacher, and administrator. Serving on the Marlington Board of Education would be a great opportunity for him to give back to the school district and community in which he lives.

Jim Hornyak is a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as an avionics production superintendent, quality assurance inspector, and instructor. He has also acted as a training analyst, providing professional development services for the Timken Company and Diebold, Inc. Currently, he is a paramedic and firefighter with the Marlboro Township Fire Department. Jim, his wife, Lynette, and their four children have lived in Lexington Township for 15 years and attend Science Hill Community Church. He looks forward to serving on the Marlington Board of Education where his goals include valuing community input, improving school board transparency and academic achievement, prioritizing fiscal responsibility, and ensuring all district buildings and grounds are thoroughly maintained.

Luke Cowles is a graduate of Marlington Local Schools whose family has lived in the district since 1975. He has spent over 30 years providing media, marketing, and publishing services in roles with institutions such as the Los Angeles County Superior Court, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), and as the senior regional editor of Southern California for ADVANCE for Nurses magazine with Merion Publications, Inc. Currently, he resides in Washington Township and provides content management and book ghostwriting services to California-based physicians and their medical practices. He looks forward to serving on the Marlington Board of Education where he hopes to increase transparency, improve student state test scores, support cost-effective financial management, and secure the proper preservation of all our school buildings.
